Bub City Epic Fail - Closes for Private Events - Dumps off its Customers who Expect it to honor its posted hours

I like this place - too bad they need to be exposed for dishonoring their hours. Same as Scoozi! which went out of business for the same reason

On Saturday, April 28, 2018 at about 5pm, I walked 5 blocks from where I live to Bub City on Clark St. in Chicago. Upon arriving, I was confronted with a sign informing me that "the entire restaurant was closed for a private party".

It appears that the restaurant had no intention of honoring its published hours of operation, but had decided to be extremely RUDE to its regular patrons by shutting down the entire place, not just a room ,but the entire place, for a private party.

Last time I checked, Bub City was a restaurant, not a banquet hall. They publish their hours on their website, on flyers, and on the front of their establishment and many people make plans to eat there well in advance based on those hours. I wonder how many people made plans to eat there, only to be confronted with a "Closed for a Private Event" sign

I hope you guys made a lot of money on that private party, because there are many people that you screwed over tonight who will never come back again. Did you figure that into the cost of this private party? Hope so.

In 2011, the same thing happened at another LEYE (Lettuce Entertain You) restaurant called Scoozi! This was not the only time they did this to their customers, and after being abused in this manner multiple times, their business fell off and they went out of business several years later

Bub City has good food and good music. It would be a shame if this same fate befell them. Maybe LEYE should learn a lesson from the Scoozi! experience and make sure this doesn't happen

Lets face it, the law doesn't prevent them from closing down for private parties, that is the govermental laws, but the MORAL law that punishes those who break their promises will eventually exact a penalty, and, in the case of Scoozi!, it was the death penalty.

When you publish hours, that is a PROMISE to your customers that you will be open as a RESTAUANT, not a banquet hall, during those hours. When you close down for a private event, you break that promise. Why should your customers ever make plans to eat at your establishment when they can't be sure you will be open?

I for one will be hard pressed to come up with a reason why I will EVER, EVER STEP FOOT IN YOUR ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. NEVER, EVER MISTREAT YOUR REGULAR CUSTOMERS THAT WAY!
